Ready, Set, Read!
CISPA’s annual Read-A-Thon kicks off Monday, March 8. Parents and children are encouraged to read like crazy during the three weeks of the event. Keep a log and have your child initial each entry.
One key component of Read-A-Thon is fundraising. The majority of the money raised from this year’s event will go to support Room To Read, the charity selected by Lower School students, with 15% going to support CISPA’s literacy programmes. The CDNIS community has very generously supported Room to Read, raising more than HK$1M over the past three years. Pledge forms went home with students; you can also download additional pledge forms.
There are plenty of other ways for parents to be involved in Spring Into Reading this year. Volunteer at the Lower School Book Swap, take your 1st or 2nd Grader to the Pajama Jam, buy some books for your child at the Book Fair, create your own entry for the Books2Eat event (or just come for the viewing and tasting), or take your child to the library to share a new story.
Happy Reading!
